Mississippi is named after the Mississippi River and is one of the “Bible Belt” states located in the Southern area of the United States. Northwest Mississippi is made up of the Mississippi Delta, which is a plain of rich soil from the floodwater deposit buildup.

Mississippi generally has long, sizzling summers, and short, placid winters. The climate is also humid and subtropical with a risk of hurricanes, thunderstorms and flooding as well. Jackson, Mississippi actually established the USA Int’l Ballet Competition and continues to be an attraction for the world’s top budding dance stars. Many stars come from Mississippi including Elvis Presley, Oprah WInfrey, and B.B. King. Mississippi continues to be called home by many Americans.
